The Wayans Brothers are back with their new project offering the audience a laughter-packed movie. That’s what they do best, I suppose, and they should stick with it.
Darryl (Shawn Wayans) wants so bad to become a father, while his wife Vanessa (Kerry Washington) thinks they should delay that a little bit as her career is now on its peak. Like a dream comes true, Darryl found a baby-in-a-basket at the front door of his house, a baby with a tattoo and a set of teeth of a fully grown up man. The baby who they called Calvin (Marlon Wayans) is actually a thief-on-the-run who just stole the Queen Diamond. By accident Calvin dropped the diamond on Vanessa’s bag while being chased by the police. Calvin and his partner-in-crime plotted to take back the diamond and get out from the house later that night. But his attempts to escape always fail because Vannessa’s father caught him suspiciously roaming around in the house while everybody is asleep.
I missed about a minute of its starting so I don’t really know what happened before the robbery. The movie contains the typical Wayans’ jokes with some sarcasm to today’s society; about putting work as a higher priority than family, about sending our parents to the retirement home because we don’t have enough time and patient to deal with the old folks, about kids growing up to “the dark side” because they weren’t given enough love, and about the size of a diamond being used as the measurement for love (hehehe… I made the last one up). Some of the cast members also played in “White Chicks” movie. Overall it’s funny, but not that funny. I liked “White Chick” better.
My rating: 3/6
