Be careful next time before you save a cat if you don’t want to spend the rest of your life with it. It may decide to marry you to show its gratitude!
Haru is an ordinary girl and can be a bit gawky at times. One day she saved a cat that turned out to be Prince Lune from the Cat Kingdom. The Cat King shows his gratitude by showering Haru with plenty of gifts, cat style, none of which is actually her favourites. In addition, the King also decided to give Haru the ultimate gift: to marry the prince she had saved. Haru is panicking! The cats don’t even ask if she ever dreamt of marrying their prince and become part of the cat royal family. To get her out from the deal, Haru has to seek help from the Cat’s Business Office and visit the Cat Kingdom.
As one of Ghibli’s, this anime also bear the same signatory beautiful pictures with nice colourings. I certainly love the compositions and the beautiful drawings. As always, the adventure to a fantasy land even as weird as a Cat Kingdom may sound just blew me away. I am not a cat-lover so the story didn’t get on me much, but the same with Haru, I think I am in love with the cool and gentleman Baron!
This story is actually a development from a small part of another anime called “Whisper of the Heart” which author Aoi Hiiragi was asked to create a separate story focusing on the characters Baron and Muta-cat. The movie original title is “Neko no ongaeshi” and was directed by Hiroyuki Morita.
