I always play a movie during my lunch time at home and since I am running out of options, I just randomly selected the unlabelled DVDs from my friend’s bookshelf. This is what I’ve got. After so many months I deliberately avoided watching this (I hate J.Lo!), I guess I shouldn’t say no when it’s already inside my notebook hehehehe…
Cliché. Charlie (J.Lo) meets the man of her dreams after reading the daily astrology from a magazine. Kevin (Michael Vartan) is handsome, caring and successful. His mother, Viola (Jane Fonda), has just gone through a break down period after being dismissed from her TV show and being replaced by a younger generation. Viola is temperamental and she carries I-am-important-and-famous aura all the time. Kevin’s relationship with Charlie, angers Viola a lot. She dislikes the fact that her successful son gets a temp worker for a bride and she needs an object for her post-power syndrome. She doesn’t dare to oppose Kevin upfront; instead her next project following the retirement is to rid of Charlie with her strategy and manipulations.
I guess it’s alright to admit that the movie wasn’t bad. I still don’t like J.Lo’s expressions on movies as they never look genuine, but Fonda’s tantrums are funny to watch. The whole thing is modestly entertaining. The best scene is when Charlie asks Kevin what the colour of her eyes is. Kevin’s answer is really what a girl would dream of from ‘d’ guy. Lucky Charlie.
My rating: 3/6
